I've been trying more Norman Walsh trainers. The New Glory are from their new AW20 collection. I chose them in tan, but they come in other colours. Comfortable, stable and well-made, I haven't used them in the gym yet, but they have been perfect for walking the dog.

The second pair are Fellsman boots. I've been wanting to try these for a while as they are related directly to Walsh's early fell running boots. They now sell more technical boots for mountain running and these Fellsman boots are more lifestyle oriented. They are a snugger and slimmer fit than the New Glory trainers; presumably as running boots they would need to have been a closer fit as running over the rough ground of mountains and moorland demands a shoe that won't move around the foot. However, they make stylish footwear that's somewhat out of the ordinary.
The Norman Walsh Fellsman |
Norman Walsh makes their shoes in Bolton, Lancashire and Norman himself started in the shoe industry after the Second World War. He made running shoes, spikes and football, cricket and rugby boots for many leading athletes until late in the last century - from 1961 under his own name (2021 sees the company's 60th anniversary).
Walsh's output is now more leisure-based, but I still see their PB fell running shoes in use on my visits to Cumbria where the sport has a strong following.
New Glory trainers £125 and Fellsman boots £185 from Norman Walsh.
The footwear was gifted - all views are mine alone.
